Cabinet Specification

Precision built rigid kitchen furniture proudly made in Norfolk

Atlantic Kitchen Unit Specification

Our rigid-built kitchen units are designed and manufactured locally in Norfolk, delivering British-made quality, exceptional durability, and precision craftsmanship. Each cabinet is engineered to complement your chosen door style and built to exceed the performance of standard flat-pack furniture — for kitchens that not only look refined, but last a lifetime.

This specification applies to our British kitchen collections, including ranges from Kitchen Stori and Burbidge. For our German kitchens (Schüller and next125), each range is supplied complete with its own integrated cabinet system, designed and manufactured entirely in Germany.

Cabinet Construction | Engineered in Norfolk. Crafted with precision. Built to last.

Our rigid-built kitchen units are designed and manufactured locally in Norfolk, combining advanced machinery with skilled craftsmanship for exceptional strength, precision, and longevity. Every cabinet is constructed from 18mm Egger MFC, chosen for its high-density core, durability, and vast palette of finishes. With over 240 board options available from UK stock—including 102 realistic woodgrain reproductions and an extensive range of solid colours—your cabinet interiors can be tailored to coordinate or contrast beautifully with your chosen door style.

We also have access to the Kronospan range for additional flexibility and, for a truly premium finish, can upgrade interiors to Birch plywood or real Oak and Walnut veneer.

Unit Dimensions & Depths

  • Base Units:
570mm overall depth with a 47mm rear service void, providing a generous 505mm internal depth.
This allows for 500mm drawer boxes, offering approximately 11% more storage capacity than the 450mm boxes commonly found in mass-produced “flat-pack” kitchens.

  • Wall Units:
308mm overall depth with a 20mm service void and solid 18mm back panel, giving 270mm of internal storage depth. The result is a stronger, more practical cabinet that maximises usable space while maintaining structural integrity.

Edging & Finishing

All carcase edges are finished using durable ABS edging, precision-applied by our computer-controlled edge banding machine. We choose ABS for its superior strength, clean finish, and environmental benefits, outperforming traditional PVC edging. For high-traffic kitchens or family homes, this edging can be upgraded to 2mm thickness for enhanced impact resistance.

Assembly & Construction

Once edged, each cabinet is hand-assembled and individually quality-checked.

  • Base units are dowelled and pocket-screwed for strength.

  • Wall units are glued, dowelled, and pressed for perfect alignment.

This ensures every unit remains true, square, and built to last — providing a consistent, rigid structure that endures daily use.

After assembly, your furniture is carefully hand-packaged to protect it during transit and loaded onto a dedicated delivery vehicle, ensuring it arrives in pristine condition, ready for installation

Drawer Systems

Every Atlantic kitchen is fitted with best-in-class Blum Legrabox drawers as standard — a premium drawer system renowned for its precision engineering, refined design, and lasting performance. Finished in Orion Grey for a sleek, contemporary aesthetic, Legrabox drawers combine minimalist styling with industry-leading functionality.

Precision & Performance

Each drawer operates on integrated soft-close Blumotion runners, ensuring a smooth, silent closing motion every time.

  • 40kg dynamic load capacity supplied as standard — ideal for everyday kitchen storage.

  • 70kg heavy-duty runner upgrade available for wide or deep drawers, guaranteeing stability and effortless operation even under heavy loads.

We utilise the tallest available drawer side and back height for each cabinet configuration to maximise internal storage capacity. On a typical 1000mm drawer, this delivers around 11% more usable space than standard 450mm systems often found in mass-market kitchens.

Functionality & Operation

Our Legrabox systems are compatible with both mechanical Tip-On and Servo-Drive electronic opening mechanisms, offering complete flexibility for handleless or push-to-open kitchen designs.

The Servo-Drive system extends beyond drawers, seamlessly integrating with waste bin units, larder pull-outs, and integrated refrigeration cabinets — ensuring effortless operation throughout your kitchen.

Alternative Drawer Options

For a traditional or bespoke aesthetic, drawers can be upgraded to handcrafted dovetailed Oak or Walnut timber boxes, combining timeless craftsmanship with soft-close runners for a refined, tactile experience.

Hinges & Hardware

Every Atlantic kitchen is fitted with premium Blum Clip Top Blumotion soft-close hinges, engineered for precision, durability, and effortless performance.
Blum hinges are lifetime-tested for long-term reliability and ensure doors close smoothly, quietly, and in perfect alignment every time.

  • 107° opening angle provides optimal access to cabinet interiors

  • 3D adjustability for precise door alignment and flawless symmetry

  • Streamlined inline backplates for a neat, minimalist appearance

  • Integrated soft-close mechanism — no clip-on dampers required

  • Lifetime manufacturer guarantee from Blum for complete peace of mind

Each hinge is also supplied with matching cover caps to conceal adjustment screws, maintaining a refined aesthetic even inside your cabinets. Additionally, we provide C-shaped cup caps to neatly cover the fixing screws within the hinge cup itself — a small but significant detail that contributes to a truly seamless finish.

Sustainability & Responsibility

At Atlantic, we believe that creating beautiful kitchens should never come at the expense of the environment. Our locally manufactured cabinets are designed to last for decades, with sustainability built into every stage — from material selection to factory operations.

Renewable Energy & Resource Efficiency

In 2023, our manufacturing partner invested in a solar power system generating up to 86 kW, providing enough clean energy to power the entire factory on a sunny day. Last year alone, 40% of total energy usage was supplied by on-site solar panels, significantly reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.

Our workshop also features a state-of-the-art extraction and recycling system, where offcuts and sawdust are collected and fed into a 50m³ biomass silo. This biomass is then used to heat the factory, ensuring that almost nothing goes to waste. These investments represent our long-term commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and operating responsibly.

Sustainable Materials

All of our cabinet boards are sourced from FSC-certified suppliers, ensuring that the timber used in production originates from responsibly managed forests.
We also use low-emission MFC and MDF materials, available from sustainable ranges such as Egger and Kronospan, both leaders in environmentally conscious manufacturing. Each board is fully recyclable, and our packaging has been redesigned to eliminate unnecessary plastics wherever possible.

Responsible Partnerships

We work exclusively with environmentally responsible component manufacturers, including BLUM and INOXA, who maintain rigorous ISO 14000 environmental standards and multiple global energy certifications. By partnering with these forward-thinking brands, we ensure that every hinge, drawer system, and accessory contributes to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Local Manufacturing

Our commitment to local production not only supports British industry and skilled craftsmanship but also helps to minimise transport miles and associated emissions, ensuring every Atlantic British kitchen is both sustainably built and locally made.

Together, these initiatives make every Atlantic kitchen a responsible, enduring choice.
