Kitchen Project, Old Costessey

“I cannot recommend Atlantic more, my whole experience was made extremely easy due to their first class service. From initial design to final completion they were amazing.

I had tied myself up in knots visiting numerous showrooms, manufacturers, builders merchants, there was too much to decide and I didn’t know where to start. I was overwhelmed by the vast array of different kitchens, quality and equally disappointed by the lack of interest by some companies.

I decided to try Atlantic as I had a great experience 20 years ago when I built my home and they helped with the kitchen, utility and bathrooms. As soon as I walked in, I met Mark and I explained my journey. He suggested I made an appointment, and provide him a list of everything important to me in my kitchen. I did this, we talked through what I liked and didn’t, what sort of look, textures and how I would use the kitchen space. Within a few days my vision had come to life, Mark had captured everything, it was so close, just a few tweaks and it was perfect.

I don’t think I was that easy to deal with, I asked lots of questions, but Mark was incredibly patient, explaining every part to me. I chose a German kitchen and it is FANTASTIC, quality is so good. Atlantic helped me chose the flooring, recommended an amazing tiler. The kitchen fitter was Andy, he was great, the fitting went very smooth. I absolutely love my new kitchen, I am so impressed with it. I truly recommend the Atlantic team wholeheartedly.”

Previously this space was divided into two rooms and our client wanted to create a more impressive large kitchen with an ‘open plan’ feel. She really wanted to capture the Scandinavian look of comfortable minimalism. We achieved this by using a mixture of our Schuller Unigloss Crystal Grey doors, complemented by contemporary wood textures from our Cremona Old Oak Provence range which add punchy accents of warmth to the space.

To keep the kitchen streamlined we opted for our X2 handle-less configuration, which really exudes quality and provides a real minimalist style, which our client was very much in favour of.

Seating at the end of the island was requested to be at table height and needed to accommodate four regular chairs, with an additional ‘overspill’ space at the end to accommodate an additional person on there rare occasion it may be necessary.

When we discussed the long term energy efficiency and water usage benefits, along with the immediate convenience of having instantly available ‘true boiling’ hot water, opting for a Quooker boiling water tap was a no brainer! The model chosen was the latest Quooker Fusion Flex, which incorporates a clever and extremely handy pull out spray attachment.

Our client really wanted a neat way of storing some wine within the kitchen, so we suggested using an integrated wine cooler as opposed to a freestanding model, as this meant that the plinth was not interrupted and helped to maintain the correct alignment of doors and handle channels.

The tall bank of housings needed to accommodate three oven housings, incorporating two full sized single ovens along with a combination microwave oven and warming drawer. The stacked combination oven and warming drawer were combined with the Neff Seamless strip kit which ensures perfect alignment with the adjacent ovens, and gives the appearance that these appliances are actually one single item.

The two housings at the left hand end accommodated a full height Neff integrated fridge with a full height Neff integrated Freezer beside it. The right hand end of the run adorned a Glass fronted tambour unit with glass shelving and power points inside. This provided a fantastic location for the customers small domestic appliances.

The entire tall bank had ceiling infills and plastered boxing above, which completely eliminates the ‘dust trap’ that so many of us want to avoid! This boxing was linked into the studwork partition wall which was built to frame the end of the run.

Floating shelves by the hallway door provided a neat transition between the ‘living end’ and ‘functional end’ of the open plan area. These shelves were supplied with factory cut outs for our prepared LED energy saving lighting.

The kitchen was finished off with Silestone Bianco Drift Quartz worktops in a 20mm thickness. The island incorporates an Elica Nikolatesla Switch venting induction hob. We supplied and installed bespoke Glass splashbacks in our Fog Grey colour, which complemented the other tones beautifully.

Finally, we supplied Porcelanosa Dover Caliza floor tiles which were installed throughout the entire space into the customers hallway.

We are extremely proud of the transformation, and we trust this will offer our client many years of enjoyment!
